Who We Are

Who We Are

You would be hard-pressed to find a Christian church that does not say they preach the Gospel. Which raises the questions, “What IS the Gospel?” . . . and “HOW is that Gospel proclaimed and lived out by the people in the church community?”

At the heart of Faith Lutheran’s teaching, preaching and serving is the Gospel, that is, the unexpected, unbelievably good news that Jesus’ sacrificial death frees you from sin and offers you a joy-filled life now and in the world to come. The Gospel has no “yes, but” or “except” or “if you” . . . it is simply a resounding “Yes, I love you and I died for you.” “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, His one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.” (John 3:16, The Message)

The Gospel is not:

• A rule to follow
• A task to accomplish
• A goal to work toward

The Gospel is:

• A free gift
• A freeing power for daily living
• A goal accomplished by Jesus’ life, death and resurrection

The Gospel is for you . . . and for all people.

In the Faith Lutheran community, the Gospel is proclaimed in worship (music, preaching, Baptism, Holy Communion, testimonies, and other unexpected ways), in small groups, in teaching, in growing with other Christians, and in serving (missional living). When watched, we seek to be seen living Gospel love and sharing Gospel joy.

Connect, Grow & Serve

We’re a community of people who value connecting, growing, and serving together in the name of Jesus Christ.

Connect

Our Faith community connects with each other and with God on a regular basis. We offer many Connect groups & ministries that meet throughout the week here at church, in people’s homes, and out in the community. Our Faith Child Care & Nursery School connects with young families and provides world-class care for children in our community.

Grow

Some of the main ways we grow together in our faith in Jesus occurs on Sundays. We offer a traditional worship service led by organ music and a choir at 8:30. And at 10:45, a praise team leads our contemporary worship service. In-between our worship services is an Education Hour with Bible classes for all ages. On Sunday nights during the school year, our teenagers gather together for worship, to discuss relevant topics, and to have a lot of fun, too!

Serve

Faith also loves to serve others, meeting the needs of our own community and the needs of people around the world. Every year we send youth and adults on mission trips around the country to repair homes and help share the love of Jesus to people in need of hope. We also provide ways for people of all ages to serve right here at Faith and in our Rochester community.
