The Lord blessed us with a great summer and I hope you and your loved ones were able to enjoy His creation by relaxing in the great outdoors. Personally, I feel closest to God when I am standing on the shore of an ocean. The sea salt smell, the sound of the waves crashing and the birds diving for lunch are beautiful to me. As I walk along the beach I sing hymns and praise songs in my mind (not aloud, there is a reason I am not in the choir).
Fall brings us back to reality and to routine. My deepest hope is that your family routine includes bringing the children to Sunday School. We have engaging lessons that are led by dedicated teachers. It is not too late for you to consider volunteering as well. Here are the answers to common questions from prospective volunteers:
Yes, with the smiles of little ones, the gratitude of our congregation and a place in Heaven.
No! Sunday School is one hour a week and the curriculum is easy to present.
No! We require a belief in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and in the teachings of the Lutheran church. In your preparation for class you will either learn or be reminded of the Bible lesson. If you have any questions you can talk to Pastor Tom, Donna, or Lyle.
There is no age cap or gender preference! Young people add vitality and grandparents add experience. Women and men are equally capable in the classroom and bring differing strengths.
No! Most of our teachers volunteer on a rotating basis so that they can enjoy adult education as well. The 1st through 5th grade classes are taught in 5-week increments and team teaching is encouraged. Most of the volunteers have taught for many years and would enjoy a break. There is also a need for a list of substitutes.
Call Donna at 381-3970 ext. 39 or on her cell phone, 259-6488. The email contact is dontshop@gmail.com. See? You do qualify, are needed and would be appreciated! Children in the preschool 3s, 4s, and kindergarten will be learning about Joseph, and the 1st through 5th graders will be learning about Abraham and Sarah. The 6th grade, “The Third Team,” will be learning how the Bible helps them with their daily lives. |
